BUILDING A DESIGNER WARDROBE THAT LASTS: Our top three things to avoid...

Want to build a dream designer wardrobe that lasts? Here are our top three things to avoid 🙅‍♀️

1. Impulse shopping đź’¸
Sale events like EOFY, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, click frenzies and online warehouse sales are notorious for encouraging overconsumption.

INSTEAD:
We always recommend buying pre-loved, but if you want to partake in sales, use them for good, not a dopamine hit! Start an ongoing Wishlist of things you actually need throughout the year, including seasonal staples, denim, leather goods, underwear and even gifts. Stick to the list when shopping sales to get a bargain on your essentials and avoid overspending on things you won’t use.

2. Buying into fast fashion trends 🏭
On average, Australians buy 56 new items of clothing per year, making us the highest consumers of fashion in the world 🤯
Trends are coming and going faster than ever, as is the pressure to keep up with the cycle.

INSTEAD:
Consider these three things when shopping:
• How many times will I wear this item and what is the rough cost per wear?
• Can I style this with other pieces in my wardrobe?
• Can I resell this when I’m done with it, or will it go to landfill?

3. Not reading the care tag 🥀
Improper care can drastically reduce the life of your clothing, bags and shoes.

INSTEAD:
Hand wash when needed, skip the dryer, resole your shoes, treat your leather goods to a day at the bag spa… small investments here & there will add years to your hard earned purchases and ensure the highest return possible if you decide to resell.
