Are your items new or pre-loved?

All items sold through Consigners Closet are pre-loved unless stated otherwise. Each item is carefully assessed to ensure it meets our quality standards prior to sale.

 

Are your items authentic?

Authenticity is a priority at Consigners Closet. All items are assessed prior to acceptance, and third-party authentication may be used where required.

 

Do you offer returns or exchanges?

All sales are final. We do not offer returns, refunds, or exchanges unless an item is deemed faulty. Please refer to our Returns & Refunds policy for full details.

 

How long does shipping take?

Orders are typically dispatched within 1–3 business days. Delivery timeframes vary depending on location and shipping method selected.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we offer international shipping to selected countries. Rates and delivery timeframes are calculated at checkout.

 

Do you offer free shipping?

Free standard shipping is available on orders over $150. Shipping rates for all other orders are displayed at checkout.

 

Do you offer express shipping?

Yes. Express shipping is available at checkout for an additional fee.

 

Do you offer in-store pickup?

Yes. Free in-store pickup is available. You’ll receive a confirmation email once your order is ready for collection.

 

Can someone else collect my order?

Yes. Please ensure the person collecting has your order confirmation and valid photo ID.

 

How will I know when my order has shipped?

Tracking details are emailed once your order has been dispatched.

 

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major payment methods available through our checkout, including Afterpay where applicable.

 

Can I claim GST on my purchase?

No. All items sold through Consigners Closet are pre-loved and sold on consignment, with Consigners Closet acting as an agent on behalf of the item owner.

 

Under Australian GST law, GST is payable only on the commission earned by the agent and not on the selling price of the goods. As such, GST is not included in the item price and cannot be claimed on purchases.

 


CONSIGNMENT FAQs


How do I start consigning with Consigners Closet?

Consignments are accepted in store during designated intake times. All items are assessed individually and accepted at our discretion. If you’re unsure whether your items are suitable, we recommend contacting us prior to attending.

 

What brands and items do you accept?

We specialise in contemporary and luxury women’s fashion, including clothing, shoes, and accessories. Items must be authentic, clean, and in excellent pre-loved condition. Acceptance is based on brand, condition, style, seasonality, and current demand.

 

What condition must items be in?

All items must be in excellent pre-loved condition. We are unable to accept items with stains, damage, excessive wear, missing components, or strong odours.

 

What is the consignment split?

Consignment splits are based on the final sale price of each item:

 

  • Items selling under $1,000: 50% consignor / 50% Consigners Closet

  • Items selling $1,000 – $1,999: 60% consignor / 40% Consigners Closet

  • Items selling $2,000 – $3,999: 70% consignor / 30% Consigners Closet

  • Items selling $4,000 – $5,999: 75% consignor / 25% Consigners Closet

  • Items selling $6,000 and over: 80% consignor / 20% Consigners Closet

All pricing and consignment terms are confirmed and agreed to prior to intake and are non-negotiable.

 

How are prices set?

Pricing is determined by our team based on brand, condition, and market demand, with the aim of achieving optimal sell-through.

 

Where will my items be sold?

Items are sold through the most suitable sales channels, including our physical store and online platforms. Channel selection is at our discretion.

 

Are all items photographed and listed online?

Not all items are listed online. Items selected for online sale are photographed and listed accordingly.

 

How long are items on consignment?

Items are held on consignment for up to 12 weeks. If an item does not sell within this period, next steps are managed in accordance with our consignment agreement.

 

What happens if my items don't sell?

Options for unsold items are outlined in our consignment agreement and may include return, price adjustment, or donation.

 

Is authentication required and are there fees?

Authentication may be required for certain designer items. Any associated fees are the responsibility of the consignor and are disclosed and approved prior to acceptance.

 

How and when do I get paid?

Once your item sells, you’ll receive an automated notification. Payouts are processed weekly on Wednesdays via bank transfer upon confirmation.

 

Do you offer pick-up or alternative intake options?

Consignments are accepted in store. In select circumstances, alternative arrangements may be considered by prior approval.
