THE FUTURE OF FASHION: Why we ALL need to be buying pre-loved.

THE FUTURE OF FASHION: Why we ALL need to be buying pre-loved.

Welcome to the inaugural Consigner's Closet blog! We are looking forward to providing you with lots of fun and interesting pieces here.
To kick this off we are going to break down quite simply why we all need to be buying pre-loved designer fashion. Buying second hand designer clothing is a great way to save money and still enjoy designer fashion. Not only is finding an amazing second hand piece thrilling and exciting, but it also has so many benefits. Our customers at Consigner's Closet walk away knowing that they have joined in the wonderful circle of life, helping the environment and they all look fabulous as they do it!!

We all hear about sustainability, and we all know we have a responsibility to take part in today’s world. Did you know that some fast fashion brands burn up to 12 tonnes of unsold clothing per year due to over production? This is the equivalent weight of a school bus or two elephants!

By purchasing pre-loved clothing, shoes and bags, there is a reduction in the demand for new clothes to be made. Fewer resources are used in the production of new clothes and wastage is avoided. At Consigner's Closet we believe the fashion industry has a responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of the over production of goods... and seriously, who doesn’t love a bit of vintage Chanel?
It’s great to know we are helping the environment but let’s be honest… who doesn’t love to save some money? High-end designer clothing is expensive, and it’s no secret that pre-loved comes with a lower price..

Nothing makes us happier at Consigner’s Closet when we see a customer who normally would not be able to afford that new Fendi baguette bag, walk away with a pre-loved one with a huge spring in her step. It really is so exciting.
Designer clothing is known for their quality and individuality. Did you know every Hermès bag is completely hand stitched? This handcrafting means each bag is unique and the leather is individually selected for each piece. No two bags can ever be the same. At Consigner's Closet, we are fortunate enough to have wonderful and interesting consigners who often travel the world for work or pleasure. Many come home with designer treasures from Europe, America, Asia and beyond that can be difficult to source in Australia. Vintage Gucci from a flea market in Rome or an amazing Moncler ski jacket used on the slopes for just a season or two.

At Consigner's Closet we believe fashion is for all. We are passionate about our brands and the quality of the items we receive and if you’ve ever visited us in store on Hampden Road, Nedlands you may have even heard the squeals of delight form the girls out the back when a new rare treasure has been trusted to us to sell… come on in and have a look!
